Changes to my study programme

Hello everyone, today I am going to talk about what I would change from my career

For the most part I don’t think there should be big changes to the curriculum, I find that all the things that are taught in the career are necessary, but I think sometimes the teaching methods for certain classes require to be practical, but they are taught theoretically, which does make it harder sometimes when applied to real life.

Another thing that I think should be changed is the amount of workload that is given, which is excessive especially for those people that take extracurricular courses or work part-time, in my opinion it should diminished a little bit, like there is barely any time to study if you have to use your time to do the reports which are important for the course.

In something that, while it doesn’t affect me that much, it does affect some of my classmates is that the faculty is located way too far from their home and the classes most of the time start early, and some of the teachers don’t let people enter the classroom once the class has started, so they can’t be present in the class. In my opinion the classes should start at a later time so it is easier to be on time for the class to start and the teachers shouldn’t be that strict with people that are late.

Something that should be kept from the actual situation of the faculty should be the three weeks of classes and one week of rest once everything goes to normal, since it helps to catch on the things that were taught on the classes without the limited time of the day.

Summer Holidays

Hello everyone, today I´m going to talk about the future summer holidays. But I am really sure that I will not be travelling to another place this holiday due to the quarantine, and a lot of places are currently unavailable to travel because of that. Also, I know that money is still a huge problem when it comes to travelling abroad.

Either way the place that my family wanted to go was United States for our holidays, I don’t know exactly where but if I had to choose a place where we could go it would be California, since I’ve read that there are a lot of cool places to visit as a tourist.

The people I would be going are my father, my mother and my little sister

There is so many places to visit in California, like the Alcatraz island which is known for being a prison in the past, but it was turned into historic landmark and a touristic spot. There is also the San Diego Zoo, which is one of the most important zoos in the world since it houses many species of animals including endangered species, and it also helps in its conservation. Another place that I would like to visit is the Monterey Bay Aquarium which has a lot of sea creatures from the region, including seabirds and mammals. Among other places I would also like to walk the Golden Gate Bridge, and if money weren’t a problem, I would like to go to the Disney's California Adventure.

Post Graduate Studies

Hello everyone, today I am going to talk about my post graduate studies. To be honest, at the moment of writing this blog I had no idea about the post graduate studies that my career offered so I had to look it up.

So one of the alternatives is doing a master in “Áreas Silvestres y Conservación de la Naturaleza”, which seems to be in line with the kind of job that I want in the future, as I said in a previous blog. But I would also like to take courses in Entomology that are also in the Faculty, like Forestry Entomology and Biologic Control of Forest Plagues. I have always had an interest in insects so I would like to learn more about them, and it would also help in conservation matters.

Since this courses are part of the faculty, I wouldn´t have to study abroads, but if I had the chance to study on another country, I would take it since it would be a whole another experience learning outside Chile, and also it would be a chance to know more about said country.

As for the way I would like to study, I would be okay with anything, like taking a part time job, as long as I don’t have to take online classes since those have made learning incredibly difficult for me in the present time.

Post 5: My future job

When it comes to the job that I would like to have in the future I have not decided yet, but I would really like to work with animals, since I love animals. One of the things that I think I might work in is helping in the conservation of endangered species of Chile, since it has a lot to do with the career that I am studying.

Of course, since these are species found in Chile, I would barely travel to other countries, but thankfully, I would be able to visit the different places found across Chile. So, travelling, going out in the wild and being able to explore different habitats would be a really important part of this kind of job.

As for the salary, money is not the thing that I am looking for in a job, I mean, if it pays well I’m okay with it, but I care more for the reason that I am doing the job, if it helps the conservation status of species of Chile and to enjoy doing it.

I am currently studying a major in Forestry Engineering, it is indeed related to this topic, but in the future, I would like to take a minor related to either fauna or conservation, so I can focus more in the kind of job that I want to have.

CAREER RELATED TOPIC

When I was in high school I didn’t really think about what I wanted to study in the future, it was like that until after I did the PSU test, in the process of choosing a career, there were two which were under my interests, Forestry Engineering and Engineering in Renewable Natural Resources, the reason why I chose to study Forestry Engineering in Universidad de Chile is because I’ve always loved nature, and at the moment I started to learn of the importance of forest for the ecosystem and the forest fires that have been affecting the forests of Chile at the time.

Of course, before having the results of the test, the anxiety levels were high and thinking that I didn’t get the points I needed to enter these careers and, if that had happened, I had to take another year to study for the next PSU test was really stressing. But thankfully I had achieved the points to enter the career that I wanted, but I still needed to wait to be accepted to the career. Of course, I was eventually accepted, and me and my family were happy for this, and we could finally relax after such stressing moments.

MOVIES (BEST MOVIE/BEST DIRECTOR/BEST GENRE).

I am not much of a movie watcher, but if I could say which one is my favorite movie genre, I would say science fiction.

The reason why I consider it my favorite movie genre is because I love the kind of movies that escape the ordinary. I especially like when movies are set in a future which makes you think if something like that could ever happen in real life, like giant spaceships that can travel across space in matter of seconds or the existence of life forms on another planet (be it friend or foe).

Be it family friendly movies like Wall-e (which is among my favorite animated movies) or more mature movies like 1986 The Fly, be it a classic like Back to the future or new movies like Ready Player One or Pacific Rim. I really like the world this genre presents, be it closer to nowadays or established in the different futures that await mankind, be it prosperous with connections to another planets or a postapocalyptic future where humans strive for survival.

I mean who knows what may happen in the future, this kind of movies make your imagination fly away.

The best holidays i've had

The best holidays I ever had was when I travelled to Lima, Peru in 2017. I travelled there with my parents and sister for 2 weeks.

When we arrived, I was surprised by the climate which was like Santiago but warmer and slightly humid because of the sea, also the highways were always full of cars, so traffic congestions were a constant. There we stayed at an apartment that was close to the beach, but sadly it was prohibited to swim in the water.

Restaurant "El Salto del Fraile"

As for the things that we did there, we took a daily tour around different parts of the city, we visited a history museum and took a guided tour inside and we also went to the zoo which had a lot of exotic animals. Also, we took a guided bus tour to the interesting places of the city like the Restaurant “El Salto del Fraile” which namesake has a tragic love story. One of the best things about Lima was that you could eat for a really low price and the meals you get were massive, I couldn't finish one meal everytime we went to eat at a restaurant.

I really enjoyed the trip to Lima, from the beautiful landmarks to the delicious food, I wish I could go there again sometime.

Country I would like to visit

There are many countries I would like to visit, but due to time and money, it’s hard to do that, but one of the countries that I would really like to visit is Greece.

Greece is one of the countries with the richest history, since that is where a lot of advancements in different fields such as history, philosophy, mathematics, and other sciences. Also, it was the place where the Olympic games were born. Of course, there is also the creation of the most known mythology around the world.

As for what I would do there, I would like to visit the ancient monuments like the Parthenon or the different build to worship the Greek gods, I would also like to visit the museums to see the sculptures that were made a long time ago. I am also interested to know about the animals and plants that exist there.

If I could, I would really like to live there, because it is a country that has so much to see that just going for a week or two wouldn’t let you see everything.
