Post Graduate Studies

Hello everyone, today I am going to talk about my post graduate studies. To be honest, at the moment of writing this blog I had no idea about the post graduate studies that my career offered so I had to look it up.

So one of the alternatives is doing a master in “Áreas Silvestres y Conservación de la Naturaleza”, which seems to be in line with the kind of job that I want in the future, as I said in a previous blog. But I would also like to take courses in Entomology that are also in the Faculty, like Forestry Entomology and Biologic Control of Forest Plagues. I have always had an interest in insects so I would like to learn more about them, and it would also help in conservation matters.

Since this courses are part of the faculty, I wouldn´t have to study abroads, but if I had the chance to study on another country, I would take it since it would be a whole another experience learning outside Chile, and also it would be a chance to know more about said country.

As for the way I would like to study, I would be okay with anything, like taking a part time job, as long as I don’t have to take online classes since those have made learning incredibly difficult for me in the present time.

Post 5: My future job

When it comes to the job that I would like to have in the future I have not decided yet, but I would really like to work with animals, since I love animals. One of the things that I think I might work in is helping in the conservation of endangered species of Chile, since it has a lot to do with the career that I am studying.

Of course, since these are species found in Chile, I would barely travel to other countries, but thankfully, I would be able to visit the different places found across Chile. So, travelling, going out in the wild and being able to explore different habitats would be a really important part of this kind of job.

As for the salary, money is not the thing that I am looking for in a job, I mean, if it pays well I’m okay with it, but I care more for the reason that I am doing the job, if it helps the conservation status of species of Chile and to enjoy doing it.

I am currently studying a major in Forestry Engineering, it is indeed related to this topic, but in the future, I would like to take a minor related to either fauna or conservation, so I can focus more in the kind of job that I want to have.

CAREER RELATED TOPIC

When I was in high school I didn’t really think about what I wanted to study in the future, it was like that until after I did the PSU test, in the process of choosing a career, there were two which were under my interests, Forestry Engineering and Engineering in Renewable Natural Resources, the reason why I chose to study Forestry Engineering in Universidad de Chile is because I’ve always loved nature, and at the moment I started to learn of the importance of forest for the ecosystem and the forest fires that have been affecting the forests of Chile at the time.

Of course, before having the results of the test, the anxiety levels were high and thinking that I didn’t get the points I needed to enter these careers and, if that had happened, I had to take another year to study for the next PSU test was really stressing. But thankfully I had achieved the points to enter the career that I wanted, but I still needed to wait to be accepted to the career. Of course, I was eventually accepted, and me and my family were happy for this, and we could finally relax after such stressing moments.
